The ES Herdman ULT is designed for organizations that require large-capacity storage without compromising temperature performance or system reliability. Named in honor of our own Tom Herdman—one of the foremost engineers in bulk ultra-low temperature storage systems—this ULT provides secure, long-term preservation of critical pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life science materials.
Unlike our well-known Ultra-Low Temperature Suites that require dedicated permanent infrastructure, the ES Herdman ULT can be installed within an existing freezer room while delivering the same durability, temperature performance, and product protection expected from a purpose-built ULT storage environment. This flexible standalone design allows facilities to expand ultra-low temperature storage capacity while minimizing facility modifications, construction costs, and increasing energy efficiency.
Engineered with 100% refrigeration redundancy, the ES Herdman ULT delivers continuous protection in the event of a refrigeration system failure. A convective natural-draft airflow design maintains +/- 4°C temperature uniformity throughout the storage environment, supporting consistent product conditions across the entire chamber volume without the risk of potentially dangerous outflows from forced-air fans when a door is opened.
To further protect inventory, it features OverShield® by Predictive Monitor for 24/7 visibility into critical components and system health. Combined with redundant refrigeration, OverShield® provides added confidence that valuable materials will remain protected when uninterrupted temperature performance matters most.
